There are 59 cars and 178 drivers entered into the 2020 Le Mans 24 Hours. How on earth will you keep track of who’s driving what car and which class that car is in? You need the entry list, and you need a spotters guide. So here they are.
The entry list comes courtesy of the ACO, and details the 59 cars that’ll race at Le Mans in 2020. There are five LMP1 cars, 24 LMP2, eight GTE Pro and 22 GTE Am. You can see not only the car number and the drivers, but the liveries the cars will race with, the nationality of the drivers, and what kind of licence each driver has. Platinum is the highest licence level, reserved for those with an FIA Superlicence, those who have won Le Mans previously in a P1 or GTE Pro car or who meet a number of other high-level criteria – all in all there are 47 Platinum drivers and these are the ones to watch for podium finishes. Below that there’s Gold, Silver and Bronze.
As for the spotters guide, quite frankly there’s only one person you should look to: Andy Blackmore. Blackmore runs Andy Blackmore designs and the website SpotterGuides.com, and has for years created the best spotters guides around, not just for Le Mans but for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship, IMSA, the MX-5 Cup USA, Porsche GT3 Supercup USA and more.
Blackmore’s designs include pretty much everything you could possibly need to identify a car at La Sarthe, so if you’re watching Le Mans this year make sure you have his guide to hand.
