Mega-Gallery: Wales Rally GB in all its glory
There's nowhere to photograph motor cars quite like the forests of Wales. The North of the principality has some of the finest rallying gravel roads in the entire world, dripping with evocative names. Hafren, Sweet Lamb, Gartheniog, Myherin and the Dayinsure Wales Rally GB all ring with the echoes of greats incluidng McRae, Makkinen, Burns, and many more.
That's why we make the pilgrimage every year, quite happy to make the five hour trek from Goodwood knowing that our schlep up the M6 will be absolutely worth it as soon as that first WRC machine hoves into view – normally completely broadside.
The new generation of rallying cars just makes it even more worth it, these aero-dependent monsters sound and look great and are one of the main reasons that over 100,000 made their way into the forests last weekend. Oh, and the fact that Elfyn Evans became only the fifth Brit to ever win a WRC round. What a heady and incredible weekend it was.
