Video: Watch this insanely flat-out hillclimb in a GP2 car
Well, this is quite intense, isn’t it? Good grief. We’d like a bit of whatever David Hauser had before he flung this Dallara GP2 car up the St. Ursanne Les Rangiers hillclimb back in 2013. If you haven’t seen this before, watch it now.
First thing to note, is that he’s basically flat-out for the first 38 seconds or so, we’d love to know what kind of speed he was doing before finally lifting, and then slamming that throttle back down to the floor again. We’re riding on board here, but you just know the sound of that 4.0-litre V8 is absolutely epic as it echoes around the buildings and hillsides. It’s producing in excess of 600PS (441kW), so he’s got to be seriously shifting.
This is properly skilful stuff, as he weaves his way inch-perfectly between barrier, grass verges, sand bags, trees and brick walls, with nothing but full commitment every second of the way. It’s heart in mouth stuff, but Hauser has got everything under complete control.
