Founder Kyle Tilley, himself a racing driver from a young age, conceived Era Motorsport off the back of his career as a driver but also a driver coach. Initially a development service for prospective historic racers, Tilly has seen his creation grow to encompass far more than that.

Not only does Era Motorsport restore, prepare, transport, store and deal in historic racing cars, it is also a full-time racing team in the IMSA Sportscar Championship, alongside entries in the Asian Le Mans Series and European Le Mans Series.

It has run in the LMP2 class since 2020, a debut season in IMSA included a class podium finish on its debut at Daytona, a feat bettered a year later as the team took victory. The team’s best result to date was third in the LMP2 championship in 2022.

Away from the serious competition, Era Motorsport is home to some truly legendary machines. Among a huge collection, there’s an Aston Martin DB4GT, Lotus Cortina and Lotus Elite, but these aren’t just your standard historic racing cars. In almost every example, these cars have all been maintained to be as original as possible. Even in the face of fierce competition the team at Era Motorsport takes pride in its collection of cars that live and breathe exactly as they did 50 years ago.

That being said, one particular project in the shape of a Lotus Cortina, was fettled and honed to fight at the very front of the Jim Clark Trophy. And we had cameras on hand at the 80^th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport to see how they got on.
