Gallery: Group C cars flying through the Parabolica

22nd September 2019
Seán Ward

While Monza hasn’t used its famous banking since 1969, it remains one of the most iconic tracks in the world, and its best-known corner today is, perhaps, the Parabolica.

With the right car, and of course the right driver, the Parabolica is hugely fast, and at the 2019 Monza Historic, nothing is faster than Group C.

The Group C cars on display are special, to put it mildly. There are three Porsche 962Cs, two Jaguar XJR8s and one XJR14, a Peugeot 905 Evo 1B and a Mercedes-Benz C11. Then there’s a Sauber C8, two Nissan R90 CKs, a Spice SE88C, SE89C and SE90C, and Gebhardt C88 and C91 – two cars that have been reunited this weekend after more than two decades apart.

Given the fact that these 30-year-old cars are less than 20 seconds off the pace of Charles Leclerc’s Italian Grand Prix pole lap, seeing them fly through the Parabolica is really quite something…
