The Isle of Man TT Races has announced that the Classic TT will return in 2025 following a six year hiatus.
The Classic TT was previously held from 2013 to 2019 and saw TT legends such as John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop, Bruce Anstey and MIchael Rutter adding to their win tallies around the full 37.73-mile Mountain Course.
Taking inspiration from TTs across the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, the Classic TT celebrates both the machines and riders that live long in the memory of motorcycling fans. Races will be contested for 1990s Superbikes, two stroke Grand Prix machines and historic competition bikes from the 1960s and 1970s.
Manx Nortons and MV Agustas – as regularly seen in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy – fill the paddocks alongside some of their younger counterparts in the Superbike category such as the Honda RC45 and the Ducati 916.
Qualifying begins on Wednesday 20th August, with five races set to take place over the following Wednesday (27th) and Friday 29th August. Those dates confirm that the return of the Classic TT will immediately follow the Manx Grand Prix, from Sunday 17th August and Monday 25th August, with race days on Saturday 23rd and Monday 25th.
A trio of races will open Wednesday 27th, with the Formula 1 TT, the Lightweight TT and the Historic Junior TT contested. The Historic Senior TT opens Friday’s racing schedule before the Senior Classic TT – for Superbikes of the 1990s – closes the action.
“The Classic TT captured the imagination of fans when it ran previously, and we are excited to bring it back as a celebration of some of the most iconic decades in TT history,” said Head of Motorsport for the Isle of Man TT Races, Paul Phillips. “The ‘80s and ‘90s in particular were a time of intense rivalries, iconic machines and record-breaking racing, and this event will be a place where fans can reconnect with those unforgettable moments.”
