The Monaco Historic is a special weekend, in many ways a more evocative event than the Grand Prix itself, as cars from many of Formula 1’s greatest eras return to the streets...
Even just the names of the races are enough to get you excited about the racing action to come: Chiron, Fangio, Hill, Marzotto, Stewart, Lauda, Villeneuve and Senna all give their names to the eight races scheduled to run over the course of the weekend, each covering their own eras in the sport.
In all, you can expect to see pre-war grand prix and voiturette machinery, the original front-engined F1 cars of the 1950s, the dawn of rear-mounted engine in the early ‘60s, the high-airbox racers of the early ‘70s, the ground effect revolution of the late ‘70s and the turbo monsters of the 1980s. There’s a sportscar race as well, for the beautiful front-engined cars of the 1950s.
Saturday will see each field of cars make their way out onto the Monaco circuit for their qualifying sessions, setting the grid for all of the racing on Sunday. It’s two days absolutely packed with track action, and you can watch every minute of it right here on GRR!
