You can buy three of Toto Wolff’s supercars

Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team boss man and part-owner Toto Wolff is unloading three of his cars and he’s enlisted Tom Hartley Jr. for assistance. As you can expect from the brains behind a seven-time consecutive Formula 1 world championship-winning team, these are no ordinary machines.

Listed on the notable supercar dealer’s website are a 2018 LaFerrari Aperta, a 2003 Ferrari Enzo and perhaps more predictably, a 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series. All three are priced upon appointment but it’s safe to assume this trio is worth north of £5 million altogether.

The Aperta is finished in Rosso Corsa with black mirrors and black wheels and comes with delivery miles. It’s described by THJ as a ‘total spec’ example which presumably means you won’t find any switch blanks in the cabin. Even a ‘boggo’ Aperta would be one of just 210 examples made to celebrate 70 years of Ferrari.

The Enzo has seen a little more life, being first delivered to Europe, though to date it’s still only covered 1,478 miles. It’s the brochure-spec Rosso Corsa with Nero leather and silver wheels.

Wolff first picked up this example in 2014 and it’s covered just 217 miles in his ownership. Special miles, though, as is stated on the THJ listing, this Enzo was part of a driving tour Wolff went on with his wife and Niki Lauda through the Austrian Alps.

Finally, the mega Merc. The SL65 Black Series was the most extreme limited-run model AMG had yet done on release in 2009. Crazy-looking and powerful though it was, the Black was flawed. With over 670PS (493kW) from its 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12, all that power had to go to ground via an archaic five-speed automatic transmission for reliability reasons. Nevertheless, it’s a car close to Wolff’s heart, given he was a development driver on the project in 2008 at the Nürburgring. It’s one of just 350 cars made at the time.

So, which of Toto Wolff’s supercars would you take the plunge on? Cool as the Ferraris are, we rather like that personal connection he had to the SL65 ‘Black’...
