Ferrari is one of Formula 1’s undisputed legends. As a constructor it has totted up nearly 1,000 race starts, 254 fastest laps, 228 pole positions, 238 race wins, 16 constructor titles and 15 drivers titles. And that’s only at the time of writing.
Part of that success comes from Enzo Ferrari’s determination, but it also comes from some truly remarkable engineering. And you can’t get much more remarkable than a Ferrari V12.
Now, granted, Ferrari’s V12s from the late-1980s to the mid-1990s did not bring Ferrari Formula 1 success. But if you need to ask ‘what’s so special about a Ferrari V12?’, then you clearly haven’t lived.
The legends over at Belgian Motorsport have lived enough for all of us, ten times over, and in celebration of 6 million views on their YouTube channel they decided to put together a compilation of Ferrari F1 V12 sounds. Praise be!
This epic, 12-and-a-half-minute long video covers seven of Ferrari’s 1990s racers, all with catastrophically loud V12s.
From the 1989 Ferrari F1-89 640, to the 1993 F93a and finally the ’95 412 T2, this video shows exactly why the screaming V12 deserves a place in every petrolhead’s heart.
Take a break with the video above and watch the cars in all their glory, filmed between 2008 and 2018 at Spa Francorchamps, the Nürburgring, Zolder and the Hockenheimring.
