The wrangling over the new rules for Formula 1 in 2021 have been so furiously debated since Liberty Media took over the championship that it makes solving things like Brexit seem like a simple matter.
But, after literally years of arguing, we finally have closure, sort of. Here we can present the rules for the 2021 Formula 1 season, as signed off by the World Motorsport Council.
This is the first time, according to the FIA, that sporting, technical and financial regulations have been decided in one go, so it marks something of a change of direction to the troubled semi-agreements over previous ‘concordes’.
You can find out all the information you need in this handy video from F1 themselves, but in essence they should make it easier for cars to follow each other, seem more ‘futuristic’ to look at and allow a more level playing field with a ‘performance’ cost cap of £175million. (If you want to read the full sporting regulations or technical regulations, knock yourself out…)
Do you think it’ll work?
