Ever fancied yourself a three-time Formula 1 world champion? Here’s an opportunity to get about as close as possible to one, as the owner of a set of race overalls worn by Max Verstappen.
Up for sale in the Bonhams|Cars Abu Dhabi Auction Online, this is the race suit Verstappen wore to victory at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort – the 46th win of his career and the ninth of his record-breaking ten-race winning streak during the 2023 F1 season.
As an extra incentive, the overalls are signed by Verstappen himself, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. They’re estimated to fetch £60,000-£70,000.
They’re being sold to raise money for the Red Bull charity, Wings for Life, which was founded in 2004 and directs funding towards scientific research and clinical trials seeking new treatments and possible cures for spinal cord injuries.
The online auction, open from 17th-30th November, is running parallel to the Bonhams|Cars Abu Dhabi sale due to take place on Saturday 25th November during the F1 race weekend.
Elsewhere in the 97-lot automobilia sale, prospective buyers can also bid on Alain Prost’s race helmet from the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix, a signed McLaren race suit worn by Jenson Button in the 2011 Monaco Grand Prix and a McLaren 620R bonnet signed by Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and Zak Brown.
