F1 Manager 24 has been teased, with new details about the next instalment of the yearly title trickling out ahead of the game’s expected mid-year release.

The big news for this year’s instalment is that for the first time, players will be able to create their own fictional team, racing alongside the existing grid of 10 teams and 20 cars we see battling at real-world Grand Prix weekends. Word has it Andretti has the pre-order…

A number of factors contributing to an F1 team’s success are within your control, including the hiring and firing of on- and off-track talent, budget management pertaining to facility and upgrade development and more. The hard choice is between honing your team for a steady but consistent climb to the top with a strong infrastructure, or hail Mary points lunges via aggressive car upgrading and top-tier driver talent.

“Customise every element of your team from your setup and livery design to logo and racing suits,” the site reads. “Recruit the right staff and drivers and negotiate with sponsors for placement on your car”.

A new mechanic within the game will also be the mentality system, which adds in the complication of managing driver and team morale. That's paired with upgraded AI to bring a more authentic experience to players, even down to the ‘threat of staff and driver poaching’. Imagine the joy of living the Mercedes-AMG F1 brain drain for real.

“Keep your drivers and staff motivated using the comprehensive new mentality system and dynamic contract negotiations,” the game announcement reads.

“Take control of your team’s facilities and focus your driver’s development as you execute your vision. Improved rival team AI, including the new threat of staff and driver poaching, provides an unpredictable and dynamic challenge year-on-year.”

Luck will also come into the equation, with mechanical failures introduced as a looming threat over every race weekend.

The third instalment in the series by Frontier development is mooted for a Summer 2024 release, with the game available to ‘wishlist’ now. The game is also confirmed to be available on both current- and last-generation consoles, as well as, obviously, PC via the Steam and Epic game stores.

More info’s coming on the game, with a live Twitch and YouTube episode set to air on 27 March.
