F1 Drive to Survive season 4 release date announced

The series, which chronicles a season in the top level of motorsport, has been a smash success for the streaming service and F1, bringing in new fans from across the globe attracted to personalities including Daniel Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz Jr. and Lando Norris.

It has not been without controversy though. 

Max Verstappen stated he would not be a part of the fourth season after believing his words had been misused in previous series and voicing concerns about how the championship was portrayed. Some fans have also called out the series for faking rivalries that don’t exist between drivers. A lack of access to top teams, including Ferrari and Mercedes, has also held back the ability to cover the major stories of the campaign.

However that has not put off audiences, and although Netflix does not announce its figures, it is clearly a draw for viewers given the series relative longevity.

When can I watch the new series of Drive to Survive?

The fourth season of Formula 1 Drive to Survive will be released in full on 11th March, just nine days before the start of the 2022 F1 season.

How many series of Drive to Survive are there?

There are currently three series of Drive to Survive. They cover the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Formula 1 seasons.

Who will be in Drive to Survive season four?

What season does Drive to Survive season four cover?

It will showcase the 2021 season, including at least some of the battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton that went down to the wire. How much of the controversy from Abu Dhabi they will be able to include, given the limited access to the drivers involved, is yet to be seen. 

That will mean it also includes McLaren’s brilliant 1-2 win at Monza, the team’s first since 2012, Esteban Ocon’s first F1 win at the Hungaroring and Sergio Perez last gasp victory in Azerbaijan.
