The programme has been a boon for F1, bringing in new fans across the globe thanks it its mix of personalities and tension, but has also caused some friction within the existing F1 fanbase.

Netflix never releases its viewership figures, but given the series has continued for five consecutive years it must be returning enough for the streaming giant to think it’s worthwhile.

No more details have been released about the series, but we expect Ferrari and Mercedes struggles to be forefront. Also the fallout from the Daniel Ricciardo/Oscar Piastri switch could well feature heavily, given McLaren and Alpine have both been a focus of the series in the past.

The trailer for the new season has also been released, showcasing a small glimpse of the new series. It’s mostly just Will Buxton talking about how big this season is – so the same as every other Drive to Survive season – but does reveal the series one big piece of news – World Champion Max Verstappen is back!

The dutchman refused to take part in the fourth season, after feeling that his interviews had been misused previously, but apparently returns for the new season. Sadly during a season in which he faced relatively little adversity.

A still from each episode was also posted to F1’s Instagram account, possibly revealing the subjects for the upcoming series.

Episode titles and image posted:

  2. Bounce Back – Toto Wolff
  3. Like Father, Like Son – Mick Schumacher
  4. Matter of Principal – Ferrari

  8. Alpha Male – Yuki Tsunoda and Pierre Gasly
  9. Over the limit – Christian Horner
  10. End of the road - Mercedes

This year’s titles seem to be anything other than cryptic. So we can put a reasonable guess in that the subject of each episode. Episode one will be about the start of a new season, with the dawn of the new cars and Ferrari aiming for a return to the top. Episode two will focus on Mercedes’ attempts to comeback from its poor start to the season. Third will be a show focusing on Mick Schumacher before episode four looks at Mattia Binnotto’s place at Ferrari. The fifth episode will look at Sergio Perez’s place at Red Bull and the sixth at the split between Fernando Alonso and Alpine. Similar subject matter for the seventh will be the end of McLaren and Daniel Ricciardo’s time together. Eight will look at the Yuki Tsunoda/Pierre Gasly partnership at AlphaTauri before the penultimate episode focuses on Red Bull’s issues with the cost cap. If it’s anything like the last few seasons, expect the final episode to wrap everything up while saying nothing new.
