What a start to 2024’s motorsport season at Goodwood. The first day of the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport was packed with thrills on two, three and four wheels. Narrowing the whole day’s action down to the ten best moments wasn’t easy, but in this video, we’ve picked some unmissable drama.
Our reference to being on three wheels relates to the Goodwood debut of sidecar racers, but in this clip, one of those wheels is off the ground entirely. With a passenger whose job it is to alter the bike’s handling at every corner, there are inevitably moments when the limits are exceeded.
Other top moments include the McLaren MP4/2B circulating in the hands of Chris Goodwin, the dynamic debut of the GMA T.50s and a full lap of rumbling Can-Am cars. We also join Mark Walker on board his Darracq 200 HP as he goes from fourth to second in one straight. Back in 1905, this was the world’s fastest car.
Talking of great battles, watch as BTCC driver Jake Hill chases down a Ford Escort in his Capri. On-the-limit car control is the order of the day as he dances the three-door coupé around the circuit, always slightly beyond the limit of grip. And if you love watching great displays of car control, you can also get stuck into footage of a Maserati 250S being hustled by Richard Wilson.
Sit back and watch the very best bits from the first day of motorsport this year at Goodwood.
