Video: How to overtake 14 cars in one lap at Goodwood
James Cottingham is no stranger to Goodwood, or to a Tojeiro-Jaguar. But that doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t have been a little perturbed by starting the Salvadori Cup in last place, after all he’s normally up front fighting for victories.
But did the DK Engineering man give up and just pootle round at the back staying safe? The fact that we’re sharing his onboard from the race tells you immediately that he did not.
Instead, Cottingham’s blue Tojeiro has dispatched six cars by the exit of Madgwick, twelve out of Fordwater and thirteen by Lavant – it would possibly have been more had he not slid wide at the second part of St. Mary’s in his haste to make it through the field.
While the rest of the race isn’t quite so dramatic (Julian Majzub is not making it quite so easy to make that 14th overtake into the chicane), as the standfirst to this article told you, it’s still an all action display, given he has to dispatch a lot more cars to reach the podium.
It’s a proper example of a talented driver (Cottingham also won the Gurney Cup earlier in the day in a GT40) and his machine being in perfect sync, as he basically dances the big straight-six-powered machine round not only Goodwood but also 24 other machines for that podium finish.
You have to just sit back and applaud the work.
