When the flag dropped to start the Gurney Cup, most people would have bet on a Ford GT40 crossing the line first at the end of the race. The fast Fords are the dominant force...

With lights ablaze, the cars look all the more evocative as the two-driver race runs into the dusk. The flow of things was interrupted when one of the GT40s lost a wheel and needed recovering for where it came to a rest at Woodcote.

A safety car led to a red flag and when the race restarted, all the driver changes had taken place and the cars reformed on the grid for what would essentially be a 20-minute sprint. With the professional drivers now at the controls, things were bound to get mixed up – and that’s exactly what transpired.

This race is simply a must-watch to see not just the drive of the weekend, but one that will go down in history as one if the greatest ever in a race at the Goodwood Motor Circuit.

The 82nd Members' Meeting will take place on 12^th and 13^th April 2025 and tickets are now available for Members and Fellows of the GRRC.
