A single-make race is always a great way to ensure close racing, and so it proved with the Jim Clark Trophy at the 80th Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport. The race for Lotus Cortinas marks 60 years since the fast saloon was launched, and the competition was as fierce as the day the cars were new.

David Dickenson got a great start in car number 44, as did Alex Brundle at the wheel of car number 33. Watch as the gaggle of thirty Lotus Cortinas barrel into Madgwick together. Despite close quarters driving, they all come through the other side unscathed, setting the tone for lap after lap of clean, close racing.

There were many place changes throughout the two-driver race, with the lead itself being traded several times. Andrew Jordan had a big moment on one lap when he inadvertently selected first gear. The resultant rear-wheel lock-up put his green Cortina into a huge slide. Quick reactions on the wheel, by the looks of things to the lockstops, meant he kept it all together. He continued on his determined charge that saw him claw his way back to the lead and indeed across the line in first place.

But there were absolutely no foregone conclusions at any time during the race, as this highlights compilation shows.
