The S.F. Edge Trophy is back for 80MM

As the earliest machines that race at any of Goodwood’s events, the cars have engines ranging right the way up to 21-litres, with several belching flames as they race around the motor circuit.

Introduced at the 74^th Members’ Meeting race is named after Selwyn Francis Edge, the famous pioneer racing driver who drove cars from De Dion, Napier and more in the early days of motorsport. The races in which he took part, including the Gordon Bennett Cup and races at Brooklands, are the ones that helped to inspire the race that bears his name.

After a change for 2021, and inspired by Goodwood’s successful SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard event in 2020, the S.F. Edge Trophy will continue to run as two races, each over five laps, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. This means that everyone who attends the 80^th Members’ Meeting will be able to get a taste for the incredible spectacle that is the S.F. Edge Trophy.

Cars that have raced in the S.F. Edge Trophy in the past include Duncan Pittaway’s bonkers Fiat S76 “The Beast of Turin”, as well as Julian Majzub’s extraordinary Sunbeam Indianapolis and the and the incredible “engine on wheels”, the Darracq 200hp raced by Mark Walker.

We’ll be able to confirm some of the star cars of this amazing race in the new year, and will be announcing the rest of the races and demos over the coming months.
