The Bonhams|Cars sale at the 81st Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport features an array of wonderful machines, from all eras catering to all tastes. We’d challenge anyone in the room over the weekend to not feel their chequebook twitching at least once.
The star cars of course are the 1954 Bentley R-Type Continental, and the 1936 Langonda LG45 Rapide Tourer, with both set to bring something in the region of £500,000 when they cross the block.
If you fancy something a little more modern, there’s everything from the ‘Crown Edition’ McLaren-Mercedes SLR, to a stunning 575 SuperAmerica. Examples of Aston Martin’s flagship GTs, the Vanquish and the DBS, are also up for grabs, with the latter showing less than 1,000 miles on its odometer.
On the other end of the scale, surviving for 115 years and offered in stunning condition, is a 1909 Renault Type BX 14/20hp limousine. It’s not the only car of its vintage too, with a 1912 Delahaye, a 1914 Rolls-Royce and a 1912 Vauxhall up for grabs. The oldest car in the sale is the 1905 De Dion Bouton Type AB Tonneau.
The race-spec machinery is tasty too, with a couple of candidates for competition at Goodwood including the wonderful 1954 Bristol 450 Le Mans Aerodyne, the 1934 MG Q-Type Monoposto and the 1960 Cooper T52 Monoposto.
Particular favourites of ours include the wonderful green BMW 3.0 CSL, the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti and the Porsche 930 Turbo. Happy bidding, folks.
