Gallery: Long-tail Le Mans racers out in force at Goodwood

09th May 2020
Seán Ward

Racing is at the very core of the modern Goodwood Members’ Meetings, but alongside the racing there are the incredible demonstrations.

The demos are always impressive, and over the last few years we’ve had modern LMP1 Le Mans cars, a load of Porsche 917s, and a some lovely high-airbox F1 cars. For endurance racing fans, though, a real highlight has to be the grid of pre-1989 long-tail Le Mans racers.

We had two Porsche 956s, a 962 and a 917 LH. Then there was a Jaguar XJR9 LM, a Lancia LC2 and an Aston Martin Nimrod C2B. There was a Ferrari 512 BBLM, too, and we mustn’t forget the Gebhardt ADA JC843, Alpine-Renault A441 and Rondeau-Cosworth M378. And that isn’t even the full list. There were 22 cars in total. A feast for the eyes.
