Day one of the Members’ Meeting Favourite Moments stream was an awesome spectacle of motorsport majesty.

We had everything from tiny Sprites fighting, to massive leviathans from a different age doing battle. Here’s our favourite moments from that first day.

Watch the Members’ Meeting Favourite Moments live stream here!

Sprite vs. Sprite – 75MM

These cars might be small, but what they lack in stature, the mare than make up for in the ability to fight toe to toe. James Colburn and Richard Woolmer showed that fight at the 75th Members’ Meeting when they went side-by-side for lap after lap in their little Sprites. This clip only shows part of what was an epic battle, that kept everyone on the edge throughout, and even then there’s five lead changes in this 90 second video!

McLaren F1 GTRs – 73MM

There aren’t many more iconic cars than the McLaren F1. And the GTR was perhaps the ultimate expression of that machine. It won the Le Mans 24 in 1995, and so, 20 years later, Goodwood decided to celebrate that awesome achievement. We gathered as many of the cars that are still running together to put on a proper show at the 73rd Members’ Meeting. With drivers such as Steve Soper, Kenny Bräck and even Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason. Oh, and they weren’t holding back.

Graham Hill Trophy Cobra dance – 75MM

Cobras could be almost the exact opposite of the Sprites we featured earlier. Big, brutal, V8-powered monsters with more power than their rear axles really know what to do with. Controlling them is a dance with the devil at all times, and when you’re in the midst of battle that control of keeping satan at arm’s length becomes even more important. Thankfully both Emanuele Pirro and Andy Wolfe are masters at this particular Rumba, and between them put on a show of spectacular sliding that we’ll never forget. It was one of the most amazing battles that the 75th Members’ Meeting, or any MM really, has seen.

S.F. Edge old-school bravery – 74MM

If you think dancing Cobras on the edge of adhesion is impressive, imagine doing basically the same thing in what could be described as a bathtub with the engine from an aeroplane. That’s what Duncan Pittaway, Julian Majzub and Mathias Sielecki were doing in the first ever S.F. Edge Trophy. Sliding their century-old ‘specials’ round Goodwood in a tit-for-tat battle that went on for the whole race. It went right down to the line in the end and was one of the bravest and most commendable spectacles we’ve seen.

Gerry Marshall Trophy battle of the fast Fords – 76MM

It’s hard to decide who is having more fun here. Mike Jordan in Mike Whittaker’s red Ford Capri, or Mark Blundell in Kerry Michael’s Escort. Both are engaged in a proper fight for the lead of the Gerry Marshall Trophy at the 76th Goodwood Members’ Meeting, and neither wants to give an inch. But they do it with perfect grace to each other, never overstepping the line and always staying as close as they can to each other without contact. It’s a wonderful battle you can relive in full here.
