We can reveal a brand-new race will be added to the schedule for the 82nd Members’ Meeting, a race for sub-3.0-litre Group 1 touring cars called the Win Percy Trophy. It’s an opportunity for the smaller cars that once raced in the Gordon Spice Trophy to engage in their own private battle for supremacy.

Expect to the see the likes of Mini 1275GTs, Volkswagen Golf GTIs and Ford Fiestas taking part in frenzied action on a new level playing field for these cars to properly showcase their potential as they fly around the Goodwood Motor Circuit in a relentless battle for momentum.

The race itself will be a star-studded 45-minute, two-driver affair with legends of Formula 1, Le Mans and touring cars expected to take part, we’ll be able to provide more detail on exactly who will be lining up on the grid as we get nearer to the event in April.

As for the race’s name, Goodwood will honour the legacy of Win Percy, a three-time British Touring Car champion who dominated in smaller-engined cars through the early 1980s. Champion in 1980, ’81 and ’82, where he came incredibly close to scoring maximum points over the course of three seasons, retiring just once in 1981 to spoil the streak.

He made the move to the European Touring Car Championship in 1984 with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, winning several races over three seasons and coming within a whisker of the 1986 championship at the wheel of a Rover SD1 Vitesse. Percy travelled the globe throughout his career. He competed successfully in Australia, winning the Bathurst 1000 in 1990, and was twice a winner of the Spa 24 Hours in 1984 and ’89.

The 82nd Members’ Meeting will take place on 12th and 13th April 2025. Tickets are on sale now to Members of the GRRC and will go on sale to Fellows on 28th August.
