The 82nd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport opens the Goodwood Motorsport calendar once again in 2025. This year the schedule brings together a hugely broad array of cars driven by an equally talented cohort of drivers, and we have details of everything and everyone expected to grace the Motor Circuit over the weekend right here courtesy of the 82nd Members’ Meeting entry list.
It’s difficult to know where to start when you’re faced with a list of cars and bikes that comprises everything from a 122-year-old Mercedes Simplex to the car that Ayrton Senna drove to his first Formula 1 victory in 1985, to the current Hertz Team Jota Cadillac V-Series R that will compete at the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours. So, let’s start at the beginning, and work through it in race order.
Race 1 is the Hailwood Trophy, a race where four-stroke Formula 750 motorcycles compete alongside 250 and 350cc Grand Prix bikes from the 1970s and 1980s. Yamaha, Honda, Harley Davidson, Triumph and Norton will all be represented on a 30-bike grid with the likes of Michael Rutter and Maria Costello among the list of riders.
The Gordon Spice Trophy takes on a different form for 2025, and this year will feature a grid made up exclusively of larger engined Group 1 tin tops. The 3.0-litre Ford Capris will do battle with Rover 3500 SD1s and Chevrolet Camaros, a single Boss Mustang joins the fray alongside a BMW 3.0Si and a distinct Volvo 242T.
It’s set to be an all-star line-up, with many of the biggest names at this year’s Members’ Meeting preparing to take part. Among them, Tom Kristensen will drive an SD1, 2024 Festival of Speed Time Shoot-Out winner Romain Dumas will pilot the Boss Mustang, Andre Lotterer will strap himself into a Capri and Gordon Shedden will take the wheel of the Volvo.
Few races meanwhile have quite the appeal of the S.F. Edge Trophy. The oldest cars to race at Goodwood, each over 100 years old, will return once again for this Edwardian showdown, with all the favourites ready to put on a show. Duncan Pittaway will be garnering plenty of attention in his Fiat S76 ‘Beast of Turin’, but he’ll face stiff competition from Mark Walker in the remarkable Darracq 200hp and Julian Majzub in the Sunbeam ‘Indianapolis’. The oldest car in the field, and by extension the oldest car competing over the weekend, is the 1903 Mercedes Simplex raced by Archie Collings.
The pace will pick up in the Gurney Cup, which will see Ford GT40s joined by Lotus, Chevron and Elva prototypes. A stunning Ferrari 206S, driven by Frank Stippler and David Franklin will be among the highlights on the grid, while Andre Lotterer, Emanuele Pirro, Phill Keen and Rob Huff, all driving GT40s, are also on the entry list.
Fans of single-seater racing will get their fix courtesy of the Arundell Cup at the 82nd Members’ Meeting. A field of rear-engined Formula Junior cars will be made up of cars from the likes of Lotus, Brabham, Cooper and Lola, mixed in with a host of lesser known manufacturers like Lynx, BMC, Donford, Gemini, Envoy and Brittania that make this one of the more varied races of the weekend.
More touring cars next, this time in the form of pre-1966 sub-2.0-litre machines in the Whitmore Cup. Mini Coopers will battle Lotus Cortinas and Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTAs. Nick Swift will once again work his magic at the wheel of his Mini alongside the likes of Nick Padmore and Shaun Lynn.
And even more touring cars in the all-new Win Percy Trophy, which is the new home for the smaller capacity cars that used to compete alongside Capris and Camaros in the Gordon Spice Trophy. Triumph Dolomite Sprints, Ford Escorts, Volkswagen Golfs and Mini 1275GTs will be the order of the day, mixed in with a huge variety of small capacity Group 1 machinery.
The list of drivers is similarly exciting, with current BTCC racers Jake Hill, Tom Ingram, Gordon Shedden and Josh Cook set to take part. Shedden will be joined by his competitors Tom Kristensen, Dario Franchitti and Andy Priaulx, as the four House Captains, each driving Minis, go head to head in what’s sure to be an entertaining battle.
The Earl Howe Trophy will bring together one of the more impressive looking grids at the 82nd Members’ Meeting, as a field of stunningly beautiful and mechanically significant machines come together to celebrate an era of pre-war British sportscars. Bentley, Aston Martin, Lagonda, Frazer Nash, Talbot, MG, Invicta, Vauxhall, Alta and even Squire will be represented in an eclectic 30-car line-up.
Similarly easy on the eye will be the Moss Trophy, which brings together the kind of cars that Sir Stirling Moss drove to so much success during the late 1950s and early ‘60s. Jaguar E-types will challenge Cobras, Ferrari 250 GT SWBs, Aston Martin DB4GTs and Lotus Elites, but a unique Lotus 11 ‘Breadvan’ driven by William Nuthall will provide some additional visual interest.
The final race on the list is the Salvadori Cup, which will see stunning sportscars from 1955-1960 grace the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Jaguar D-types will battle against a variety of Lister machinery from Knobblys to Costins, the ‘Flat-Iron’ and the ‘Ecosse’. The spectacular Lotus 15s will also be out in force alongside four Cooper T49 ‘Monaco’s and a Ferrari 250TR.
That’s just the historic racing. As always at Members’ Meeting, the timetable will be supplemented by several demonstrations. The GT3 Shoot-Out is bound to be a crescendo of drama on Sunday afternoon, with Tom Kristensen, Andre Lotterer, Jake Hill, Frank Stippler, Andrew Jordan, Andy Priaulx and Phil Keen preparing to fight it out at the wheel of a variety of GT3 machinery for the honour of being crowned GT3 Shoot-Out champion.
The Shoot-Out is just one part of GT3’s presence at the 82nd Members’ Meeting, though. A huge line-up of around 25 cars will be taking to the Motor Circuit each day, with Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ford and Chevrolet all represented.
This year’s Members’ Meeting entry list is completed by two very significant cars. First is the Lotus 97T, the car that Ayrton Senna drove to his maiden Formula 1 win at the 1985 Portuguese Grand Prix. Bruno Senna will complete several laps of the Motor Circuit almost exactly 40 years to the day since his uncle took that famous victory.
And finally, we have the Cadillac V-Series.R, the current Hypercar competing in the 2025 World Endurance Championship with the Jota team, who is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The Cadillac, with its savage V8 hybrid powertrain, will roar around Goodwood in the hands of current WEC drivers Alex Lynn and Will Stevens, in what is guaranteed to be one of the highlights of the weekend.
The 82nd Members’ Meeting will take place on 12th and 13th April 2025. Saturday admission tickets have sold out, however, Sunday tickets are stil available for Members and Fellows of the GRRC.
