6 things we’re most excited for at 82nd Members’ Meeting

18th December 2024

We’re counting down the days to the 82nd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport, and the opening of the 2025 Goodwood motorsport season. It already seems like so long since the Revival came to an end in September, so we’re very much looking forward to welcoming the roar of engines back to the Motor Circuit in April.

Even with plenty of exciting things still be announced ahead of Members’ Meeting, we’re getting pumped for what’s lining up to be a stand out event in 2025. With several brand-new additions to the schedule, including new races, here are the things we’re most excited for ahead of the 82nd Members’ Meeting.

GT3 Shootout

Where better to start than with the inaugural GT3 Shootout, an event set to bring competitive modern motorsport to the Goodwood Motor Circuit once again, following from the hugely successful Sidecar Shootout from the 81st Members’ Meeting.

The GT3 Shootout will run alongside a broader demo of GT3 machinery that raced from 2005 to 2012. The competitive element will bring eight cars into head-to-head competition, with a line-up of legendary drivers battling it out for supremacy in a series of one-lap shootouts to crown an overall winner.

Expect high-speed action to a roaring soundtrack of high-capacity V8 engines, as these cars are pushed to their limits.

Win Percy Trophy

A brand-new race on the 82nd Members’ Meeting schedule, the Win Percy Trophy, named in honour of the three-time British Touring Car champion, breaks away from the Gordon Spice Trophy to form a whole new grid of Group 1 touring cars with sub-2.8-litre engines.

In years gone by, the Gordon Spice Trophy has featured an all-encompassing field of Group 1 saloons that brought together small-capacity Minis alongside big, booming Chevrolet Camaros and Rover SD1s.

This year, the Minis get their own showpiece event as part of a full grid of touring cars also set to include Ford Fiesta’s, Volkswagen Golfs and Triumph Dolomite Sprints.

GMA

Gordon Murray Automotive has become a regular feature at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting. We’ve been treated to a series of debut moments in the past few years; the likes of the T.50, T.33 and the latest T.50s have all made their dynamic debuts at Members’ Meeting, serenading attendees with a spine-tingling V12 chorus.

We don’t know as yet what the team at GMA are cooking up for the 82nd Members’ Meeting, but you can bet it’s going to be equally spectacular to watch, and utterly addictive to listen to. We can’t wait to get a first look.

Bonhams|Cars auction

Another staple of Goodwood’s motorsport events is the accompaniment of a Bonhams|Cars auction. Situated in the Motor Circuit’s Chicane Paddock, the 82nd Members’ Meeting Sale is bound to be worth a visit over the weekend.

Last year, the headline sale was that of a McLaren-Mercedes SLR, which crossed the block for £425,500. We don’t know what kind of automotive treasure is going to be dug up for this year’s auction, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for what’s sure to be another collection filled with a multitude of gems.

Sustainable fuels

Following the hugely successful establishment of the 2024 Revival as a fully-sustainably fuelled historic race meeting, the 82nd Members’ Meeting will follow suit to continue Goodwood’s pioneering venture at the forefront of sustainability in motorsport.

Each and every car that lines up on the grid for a race at Members’ Meeting will once again be powered by sustainable fuels, a move that we now know will have zero impact on the action out on the Motor Circuit.

Dario Franchitti defending the House Cup

There wouldn’t be a Members’ Meeting without the Goodwood House Competition. Every Member and Fellow of the Goodwood Road Racing Club is sorted into one of four Houses: Torbolton, Methuen, Darnley or Aubigny. Each year, the Members’ Meeting acts as the stage for the annual House Competition, where the drivers, and spectators can each score points for their team in a bid to claim the House Cup.

At the 81st Members’ Meeting, it was the House of Torbolton, captained by Dario Franchitti, that took the crown, and we’ll be tuning in with interest to see if Dario can motivate his troops to complete a successful defence, or whether the exploits of the other Houses led by Andy Priaulx, Tom Kristensen and Gordon Shedden will be able to dethrone the champions.

Aside from the on-track action, where the majority of points will be scored, there are of course plenty of other activities to enjoy through the weekend, including the annual Goodwood Tug-of-War, sim-racing challenges, ferret racing, croquet, and stunt driving on the Skid Pan.

The 82nd Members’ Meeting will take place on 12th and 13th April 2025 and tickets are now available for Members and Fellows of the GRRC. Buy your tickets before 31st December 2024 to save 15 per cent with our early bird prices!

If you’re not already a Member or Fellow and you’d like to enjoy all the racing, demos, and other exciting content at the Members’ Meeting, you’ll need to join the GRRC. Click here for more information or to join the club.
