How to watch Goodwood SpeedWeek on TV

The first live broadcast will take place on ITV4 on Friday 16^th October between 16:30 and 18:30. The two-hour programme will kick off with a look back at the F1’s ‘nearly’ champions before a look at two people who definitely made it in the motoring world, Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. Then there is time for Hollywood superstar and speed demon Keanu Reeves to tell us about his love of the open road before the on-track action begins. We’ll take a look at the day’s action from the unrepeatable Goodwood Super Special before taking in one of our favourite races from any of our events, the Gerry Marshall Trophy presented by Sure. This sees ‘70s tin-tops, from giant Camaros to pint-sized Minis, pound round the track with no quarter given.

On Saturday 17^th October ITV4 will again pick up the SpeedWeek story from 14:00 when Mark Webber and Molly Pettit provide an expert guide to the Motor Circuit, setting the scene for qualifying in the SpeedWeek Shootout presented by Mastercard. After this first bout of on-track action, the Duke of Richmond speaks to BMW chairman Oliver Zipse to talk about the future of mobility accompanied by a history of the company’s motorsport efforts. Racing action will be provided by the first part of the St. Mary’s Trophy, another no-holds-barred touring car race, this time featuring cars from the 1960s. So expect to see beautiful Alfa Romeo GTAs take on legendary Lotus Cortinas, enormous Ford Galaxies and of course the giant-killing Mini Coopers.

The action moves to ITV1 on Sunday 18^th October at 14:00 beginning with ‘The Story of Speed’, where some of the racing legends that have competed at Goodwood tell us what attracted them to a career at full throttle. Then it’s straight into one of Goodwood’s most famous races, the Lavant Cup, for now priceless pre-1960s sportscars. Jaguar C-types and D-types, Maseratis, Ferraris and the Aston Martin once owned by Tony Gaze, who first suggested that RAF Westhampnett would make a cracking race track, will be raced hard. A change of pace follows with a look at car design and culture, featuring a few names you may have heard of; Jony Ive, Norman Foster, Marc Newson and Mai Ikuzawa. Then it’s a look into the incredible technology of Formula 1 cars before presenter Sian Welby literally takes flight on Goodwood’s jetpack training rig. The broadcast culminates in the final of the Shootout where we find out which car and driver if any will take the never-to-be-broken Outright Circuit Record.

And if you happen to miss any of that action, ITV4 will be showing SpeedWeek highlights on Wednesday 21^st October at 21:30, and on Thursday 22^nd October at 20:00 and 21:00.
