Putting in an absolute performance for the ages, Todd confidently placed his BMW R63 Kompressor ahead of the chasing Vincent Black Shadow that wound up on the second step. In the end, his lead wound up being 1.5 seconds, with his 1:47.766 time leading the second-placed Vincent Black Shadow at 1:49.283. The next three riders managed times in the 1:50s. Todd was three seconds quicker... Otherworldly stuff.

And to watch, it really is, because the track surface is glistening with freshly-fallen precipitation to a mirror sheen. Where Todd is finding the grip, we really don’t know.
