We make no apologies for the fact that the RAC TT Celebration dominates this compilation of our favourite moments of day three at the 2023 Goodwood Revival. The race for 1960s sportscars is always a highlight of the weekend, and a bit of intermittent rain mixed things up and gave drivers plenty to think about.
The rivalry between Jaguar E-types and AC Cobras is a tale as old as the RAC TT and this video you’ll see the former pedalled by Nicolas Minassian and the latter by Oliver Bryant battling side by side around the circuit. Further on in the video, we jump back to the start of the RAC TT. It had been raining before the race, but the surface had more or less dried for the flag to drop. Even so, drivers had to explore the new levels of grip in real-time. But that was nothing compared to when the rain fell during the race. Watch how Oliver Bryant finds grip on the wide line in the wet, while others were inadvertently leaving the circuit.
Away from the RAC TT, the St Mary’s Trophy for 1950s saloon cars has two entries in our top ten. The first is when journalist and TV presenter Chris Harris refuses to be bullied by two Jaguar Mk1s in his much smaller Austin A35, and the second is when Bill Shepherd puts the Jaguars back in their place with the insurmountable power of his 7.0-litre V8-powered Ford Thunderbird. Those two clips are the perfect illustration of a wonderfully diverse field. We also enjoyed watching the front runners negotiate their way through the back markers.
Moving to single-seaters, we couldn’t resist including the no-commentary clip of the Lotus 77 so you can enjoy the sound of a 1970s grand prix racer. It formed part of the parade that celebrated 75 years of the marque. Going back in time, watch Andrew Willis pass Ben Mitchell in a wet Glover Trophy, and over in the Chichester Cup things get just a little two close between two battling drivers...
As the post-event dust settles across the Goodwood Motor Circuit, we can’t stop reliving these great moments.
