Going from the Volkswagen ID.R, the all-electric hillclimb weapon that broke the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard record in July, to a big, heavy, V8 brute ...

That's right, the man who stunned the crowds by breaking the Festival of Speed's all-time record, a time set twenty years previously, has swapped the best of modern German engineering for the best of 1950's American engineering...

Seen practicing today, Dumas will be pitching his Thunderbird, owned by Goodwood Revival regular Bill Shepherd, against a hugely varied field in part one of the St Mary's Trophy at 2pm on Saturday. We're guessing a lap record may not be on the cars on this occasion...
