Sunday provided a packed schedule of on-track action at the Goodwood Revival, and cramming them into a highlights compilation proved a bit of a task when considering what to ...

Action began with the Chichester Cup for early 1960s Formula Junior cars. Horatio Fitz-Simon went on to claim victory aboard his Lotus 22 having made an excellent get away when a safety car came to an end. Next up, it was two-wheeled action in Part 2 of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy. Michael Russell (Norton Manx 30M) and Simon Roud (Matchless G50) had a great battle for first before the rider change.

We took a break from racing for the 75 Years of Lotus anniversary tribute. Making an exception to Revival’s usual 1966 cut-off, we included cars up to 1982 to encompass the entire Colin Chapman era up to when his life was tragically cut short. Cars on track ranged from an exacting recreation of the Mk1 to the black and gold JPS grand prix cars.

Back to the competition and we pick up action from the Settrington Cup Part 2. Unlike the photo finish from Part 1, this time there was a dominant performance from Josh Johnston who crossed the line a full ten seconds before anyone else. The close battle was for second place.

Returning to piston-powered race cars, we join the close battle in the Richmond & Gordon Trophies for Formula 1 cars of the late 1950s and early ’60s. Then things get a bit more brutal for the RAC TT Celebration. Changing weather mixed up the order and caused a few spills, adding jeopardy to what’s always an edge-of-your-seat display at the best of times.

We then move to another demonstration, this time the moment Sir Jackie Stewart was reunited with the Tyrrell 006 in which he won his final of three Formula 1 world championships. Just listen to him ride out that Ford DFV, despite contending with a damp surface. The track stayed wet for the Glover Trophy, the open-wheelers battling through the spray. The sun returned for a scenic Sussex Trophy and the day rounded out with Part 2 of the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul.

A great way to end another terrific Goodwood Revival, the only downside being the year-long wait until we can do it all again.
