To drive a Ferrari 250 SWB flat out in period would have been quite something, but at the time there would have been a mechanical safety net, the knowledge that any bumps, scrapes or other issues could be rectified as the car was a current racing machine. Today, however, to fix a 250 SWB, to source parts and replace damaged panels, is a time consuming and hugely costly process. Which makes James Cottingham's lap in the 250 SWB all the more impressive. In fact, it's one of the things that makes the whole Revival weekend so incredible: the racers have come to race, which, when so many valuable and historic are tucked away in air-tight collections, is commendable.
