After a washout qualifying on a rain-soaked circuit, nobody really knew what to expect once the cars took to a drier, if cooler, circuit in the evening for the one-hour, two-driver thrash. While the top seven were very closely bunched in terms of qualifying pace, vastly evolved grip conditions were sure to shake things up.
The race itself proved to be bitterly fought by the high starters, trading places back and forth. All the while, Andrew Smith was cutting his way up the order from ninth to reach third by the two-minute mark. Come the changeover, it was up to Oli Bryant to stroke it home.
