Video: The wildest moments from the 2024 Goodwood Revival

The Goodwood Revival meeting is all about clean, gentlemanly racing... but the competition is fierce, and even the world-class drivers that make up the entry list make the odd mistake when they’re driving right on the limit of adhesion for lap after lap. And when they do, they’re under the full glare of the cameras. Here we’ve compiled the most hectic moments from 2024’s event.

Actually, a couple of clips are not mistakes at all. Andrew Jordan’s masterful car control in an AC Cobra is a sight to behold. The big-power V8 sports car didn’t take kindly to the wet conditions, but AJ was able to tame it. It was a similar story in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, where Andrew Woolmer was languishing in long slides with his Austin-Healey 3000. Jimmie Johnson had a front-row seat from his equally loose Aston Martin DB4GT, creating some spectacular on-board footage.

Elsewhere, we have four cars attempting to get into the chicane together – and all coming out the other side unscathed – and a couple of perfect 360-degree spins from Gordon Shedden (Ford Galaxie) and Kubota, Katsuaki (Lotus 30). There are plenty of instances of drivers running wide. Alex Brundle goes grass-cutting in the CUT 7 Jaguar E-type while we also have a Ford Galaxie from the St. Mary’s Trophy that returns to the circuit immediately in front of a Lotus Cortina.

There’s shoulder-to-knee contact between riders in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy, and a moment in the RAC TT Celebration where Alex Brundle’s Jaguar E-type gets a little too close – by which we mean touches – Jake Hill’s AC Cobra. Some deft steering correction keeps both on track. And if you need any illustration of just how slippery things were when it was wet, a Jaguar D-type has a moment on the start/finish straight.
