With the tenth anniversary of the Settrington Cup coming up at this year’s Goodwood Revival, there’s a bit of fanfare also occurring around the machine that makes the race, the Austin J40. the newly-formed J40 Motor Company is coming to the Revival to take part in the Settrington celebrations and give us a look at the little Austin’s future, with the debut of the first-ever J40 continuation car.

The car will be sympathetically upgraded. That’s to say, enhanced but faithful to the original, retaining the unmistakable look but with a rejuvenated driving experience. Of course, J40 also restore and sell existing chassis, for which a range of parts and accessories will be presented. Likewise, a number of historically significant cars will be in attendance, including a car made in North Wales on the last day of original J40 production.

It won’t just be the Settrington racers driving the J40s at Revival either. A test track will be available for young drivers to get their first go in a J40 at the event. This little vintage pedal car has been giving children their first taste of motoring for over seven decades. With the work J40 Motor Company are doing, that should be the case for many decades to come.

“It’s our mission to protect the J40 for drivers of the future as, for many, it provides their first interaction with a classic car,” said J40 Motor Company Managing Director, Mark Burnett.

“The J40 Motor Company is dedicated to encouraging the next generation of classic car enthusiasts and whilst J40 pedal cars are not cheap toys, we are committed to ensuring all children get a chance to see, drive, experience and love the Austin J40.”
