Do you have a kilt hidden away in the attic at home? Well, now’s the time to dust it off. At the Goodwood Revival this year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of Ecurie Ecosse’s one-two finish at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1957.
To mark the occasion we have gathered together the largest collection of pre-1966 Ecurie Ecosse machinery ever to be seen in one place. Included in the line-up is not only the Le Mans-winning D-type from 1957, but also four more Ds, several Ecosse C-types, the two Ecosse Imps, both the Lister-Jaguars, all four Tojeiros, the Cooper Monaco, the Austin Healey Sprite, the sole-remaining XK120, the Connaught Type A and even the Ecosse transporter.
The cars will take to the track on all three days (Friday-Sunday) for a parade and will be piped out of the assembly area by the Pipes and Drums of the London Scottish Regiment. Before heading round the track the cars will form up on the grid to the backdrop of marches, strathspeys and reels.
If you want to be on that grid (regardless of what passes you have or don’t have) then all you need to do is wear a kilt, tartan trousers, a tartan skirt or, in fact, any item of tartan clothing whether that is a wee scarf or a Bonnie cap. Indeed, you won’t be allowed on the grid if you don’t wear something tartan – there’s no skirting around the issue.
Ever wondered what the view was like down to the first corner? Now’s your chance.
