Saturday Morning at the 2024 Goodwood Revival
After all the rain yesterday it’s a welcome sight to see slivers of blue skies this morning, as the second day of the 2024 Goodwood Revival brings with it the start of the racing in earnest. The 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s Grand Prix and Voiturette cars of the Goodwood Trophy will be kicking-off the action this morning, but not before the first parade of the day, celebrating 60 years of Meyers Manx.
The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy and the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul are two of the two-part races here at Revival, and the groundwork will be laid in the battle for those respective victories today, joined by the first part of the Settrington Cup, a J40 pedal car race for the next generation of racers and as competitive as any race you’ll see all weekend.
Celebrations of John Surtees and the legendary Jaguar XK engine are scattered amidst the fierce track battles, with the pre-1963 GT cars of the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy closing out proceedings as the eighth race of the day. It promises to be a spectacular day here at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, and one that will remain, hopefully, umbrella-free.
