A truly astounding field of famous names from the motorcycle world has gathered at Goodwood for the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy races, not least 14 Isle of Man TT winners with a total of 84 victories on the Manx classic between them.

Add in to this mix the two fastest female riders in recent history, an array of Superbike champions and MotoGP superstar Dani Pedrosa, and the two-rider race for motorcycles that raced up to 1966 promised much.

Pole position was held by the 1962 Norton Manx 30M of British racing legend Steve Parrish and Richard Cooper. After the sprint across the track to reach their bikes, the first half of the race saw a five-rider pack develop at the head of the field, with riders trading the lead between them until Cooper pulled away into a private battle with Lee Johnston’s MV Agusta.

The Italian machine began to build a strong lead that was sustained throughout the rider change window. Jon-Boy Lee racing on to take the chequered flag by a margin of 7.484 seconds from the Norton Manx of Peter Hickman and Sam Clews.
