Gallery: The wild warplanes of Goodwood

There’s still the modern airfield, which sees planes of various shapes and sizes take to the skies on a daily basis. But what about warplanes? Well there’s a resident Spitfire, courtesy of the Boultbee Flight Academy, and a 1943 Harvard Warbird. But events like the Revival have present Goodwood the opportunity to host quite a few more battlebirds than that…

So here’s a simple gallery of planes at Goodwood, from Spitfires and Hurricanes to P51 Mustangs and Lancaster Bombers.

Oh and it would be rude not to mention that photo, the one of a Spitfire caning its way down the home straight at the 1998 Revival. How surprised do you think the photographer facing away from the approaching Spitfire would have been?
