It’s been a damp one in the Sussex countryside, meaning Friday Practice and Qualifying at the 2017 Goodwood Revival will be remembered as a challenging and exciting session in equal measure for both man and machine.
Changeable weather throughout the day, accentuated with several heavy thunderous rainstorms hasn’t managed to ruin the Goodwood spirit, however, with revellers lapping up the first glimpses of the weekend’s schedule during Practice and Qualifying.
We kicked off with the Kinrara Trophy entrants stretching their legs in dry yet overcast conditions, only for the race proper to be started later into the evening under rather more soaked conditions.
One of the day’s most committed performances was delivered by the fearless Michael Dunlop, ringing the neck of an MV Agusta 500 in the pouring rain during the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy practice. Bravery and bonkers bike handling personified.
Back on 4-wheels and there was plenty of sideways action being delivered as a host of drivers across classes experimented with grip and the circuit’s track limits, with more than a few getting acquainted with the grassy aerodrome run-offs.
Some opposite lock goodness was delivered by the gorgeous BMW 700 within the St Mary’s Trophy practice, along with several TT participants in the classic GT and Saloon cars. Even a big and burly V8 Corvette C1 managed to get swirly as it lunged across a waterlogged piece of curbing, only to be snapped back under control.
Catch-up on a few these highlights within our Practice and Qualifying gallery, before the racing action properly gets underway over the weekend.
