Gallery: Ford's family heroes in Earl's Court at Revival

It’s fair to say we’re big lovers of Ford here at Goodwood. Take a stroll around the paddocks at Revival and you’ll more than likely catch an entire row of GT40s – that is if they’re not out howling in the rain.

The St Mary’s Trophy regularly plays host to one of Ford’s finest sideways grocery-getters – the Lotus Cortina, and there’s nary a Members’ Meeting that doesn’t feature a Mustang or a Capri being wrestled through the Chicane.

It’s easy to get carried away with all this but at the Earl’s Court Motorshow at Revival, we were reminded of just how multi-dimensional a motoring marque Ford has always been.

While the mid-engined big-bangers were out at Le Mans swatting the Italians into place, fleets of loyal Anglias, Cortinas and more were bumbling about the British Isles doing the bidding of average Joe. It’s the mark of a name that’s a Jack of all trades.

We enjoyed the juxtaposition of comparing Fiesta Mk8 to its Anglia ancestor, then going out to catch a GT40 spitting flames and pirouetting through a haze of freshly layn deluge. Of course, there was a whiff of Ford’s rather more exciting presence on today’s roads in the form of a stunning blue Mustang Convertible.

Wherever you walked you were rarely a more than a spit away from a blue oval. A celebration of a lifetime of Ford doing (and often mixing) family and fast and long may they continue to do so.
