Gallery: Eroica Brittania at the Revival
The fifth event of Sunday’s Revival was a departure from the norm in that the track fell silent and horsepower was replaced by human power. In the first Eroica Brittania Cycle Moment a cohort of cyclists, led by six-time Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy, took to the Motor Circuit for an impressive display of vintage bicycles. There wasn’t a MAMIL in sight, as crash helmets were replaced by caps and race suits a various array of colourful ensembles.
The parade was the culmination of three days celebration of classic cycling culture, marking the world-famous vintage cycling festival’s relocation from the Peak District to the glorious Goodwood Estate. Known as ‘the world’s most handsome bike ride’, it will come to the circuit in August 2022, offering cyclists the chance to retrace the roads where cycling legends contested the 1982 UCI Road World Championships.
Following their lap of the 2.367-mile circuit (unsurprisingly the slowest of the weekend), the cyclists headed off to explore the South Downs.
