The 2022 Goodwood Revival is just a matter of days away, so it’s time to reveal the first version of this year’s entry list. And, as we say almost every year, what an incredible array of cars and drivers this year’s event is set to see!
Starting, as it is logical to do, at the very beginning, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy this year returns to the place at the head of the event for the first time since 2015. This race, for sportscars of the early 1950s, is a two-driver battle into the sunset and features cars including the Ferrari 750 Monza, Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica, Jaguar C-Type, Aston Martin DB3S and more. All are racing as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Goodwood Nine Hours – the epic endurance race that was held as a round of the World Sportscar Championship in the 1950s.
Moving through the entry list, the Madgwick Cup includes a Maserati A6GCS, Tojeiro Bristol, and Porsche 550 Spyder. The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy is full of amazing bikes from the 1930s to 1950s, while the Glover Trophy showcases its traditional line-up of amazing Formula 1 cars of the 1960s. This grid is filled with names including Lotus, BRM, Brabham, Ferrari and Cooper – the true greats of the era.
In the famous St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul, this year for 1960s saloon cars, you’ll find BMW 1800 TISA, Mini Cooper, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Ford Galaxy, Lotus Cortina, Plymouth Barracuda and more, all ready to take part in the Revival’s traditional little vs. large touring car fight. In the driving seat are such legends of motorsport as Jean-Eric Vergne, Steve Soper, Andy Priaulx, Matt Neal, Andre Lotterer, Neel Jani, Rob Huff, Tom Kristensen, Romain Dumas and more.
The Goodwood Trophy, bringing the Goodwood Motor Circuit’s earliest era back to life, has its traditional field of Maseratis and ERAs, while the Whitsun Trophy again brings the loudest and most powerful grid of the weekend with Can-Am cars and Ford GT40s.
The two GT showpiece events return – the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy features again the most beautiful and expensive grid in the world, filled with Ferrari 250 SWBs, Aston Martin DB4GTs and Jaguar E-types. The RAC TT retains its place as the most important historic race around, with the more modern E-types and Cobras joined by a Sunbeam Lister Tiger, Corvette Sting Ray and the screaming Porsche 904.
Away from the competitive racing, you can see the incredible array of Ferraris – from GTOs to Lancia D50s – and almost the exact opposite, the Austin 7, all preparing to parade around the track as part of our incredible celebrations.
To go through the entire entry list would take pretty much the entirety of the space on GRR, so we will let you read the full document below. It features the Lavant Cup – a full grid of MGBs for the first time – the Sussex Trophy’s stunning sportscars of the late 1950s, the Richmond & Gordon Trophies early F1 cars and even the field of Austin J40s ready to take on the Settrington Cup. Remember that, as always, the entry list is provisional and subject to change.
