Video: The best runs on Saturday at the Festival of Speed

It's been an action-packed day on the Hill here at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. If you haven’t been here, or have been unable to stay glued to the live stream all day, you’re in luck – we’ve pulled together the very best of the highlights in this video. And, what’s more, it’s mostly commentary-free so you can enjoy the cacophony of engine noise and squealing tyres from a wide variety of top-flight machinery that has taken to the 1.16-mile ascent.

The video kicks off with the mighty GMA T.50S. Watch as it carves a clean, fast line up the hill, all the time its Cosworth V12 screaming away at up to 12,500rpm. It’s a lesson in clean, efficient precision – much like the car itself. Next up are a couple of Ferrari Formula One cars. Adrian Newey is aboard a 312T2 while Oliver Bearman performs donuts in front of the House in his SF71H.

After that, we join Romain Dumas and the Ford Supervan. The 2000hp EV is on an absolute flyer, and we ride on board as Dumas deftly negotiates the flint wall. It’s other-worldly to be travelling so quickly from such a lofty driving position.

Back in the world of internal combustion, we witness drifter extraordinaire ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett and his new MADMAC. He’s barely in a straight line at any point of his drive up the Hill. It’s a contrast to the clean lines of the Mercedes-Benz CLK LM GT1 car that follows.

Next up is Travis Pastrana and the wild Subaru ‘Huckster’. No less wild, but in a completely different way, is the Fiat S76. It was no ordinary run up the hill for owner Duncan Pittaway – he was joined by Richard ‘The King’ Petty in the car, while Kyle Petty drove in tandem with the Pontiac Superbird. Could you get two divergent automotive shapes?

We return to EVs with Karun Chandhok donutting a Formula E car. Watch as he turns tyres to smoke with an absence of engine noise. Engine noise is present again for the final clip – the very sideways Toyota Stout pick-up.

Enjoy that? Let’s do it all again tomorrow.
