Video: Acceleration, burnouts and drifts off the line at 2022 Festival of Speed
Are you already missing the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard? There are so many moments from the weekend that will live on in the memory forever, but if you really want to fill the void during this post-Festival of Speed slump there’s plenty of online content to keep you entertained.
YouTube channel Supercars on the Streets captured this video of supercars (and drifters and race cars) not on the streets but from the startline and through the first corner of the 1.16-mile hillclimb course. And there’s more than 20 minutes of continual take-offs to watch, free from background music or commentary so you can simply enjoy the sounds of the cars to go with the sights, as if you were standing by the track yourself.
The video kicks off true to the channel’s core content with a whole host of supercars. Since we’re at the crossroads of petrol and electric power, super- and hypercars appear in both internal combustion and EV forms. The GMA T.50 makes an early case for the best sound of the whole video with its 4.0-litre 12,100rpm V12 Cosworth engine. Holding up the EV end is the dramatically squirrelly and smokey take-off by the Rimac Nevera.
The variety for which the Festival of Speed is famous is evident as the video continues. How about a mix that contains the McLaren G1 GTR, Nissan Primera Supertourer, McMurtry Spéirling and the one and only Aston Martin Bulldog. Then there’s a whole host of drifters going from lockstop to lockstop from the moment they enter the frame to the moment they leave it.
Is it too soon to say roll on Festival of Speed 2024...?
