The smart money was always on Olly Clark or Kenny Brack. The former set the fastest time last year in his Subaru Impreza ‘Gobstopper II’, and this year it was back and faster than ever. Meanwhile, the Lanzante-prepared McLaren P1 LM wouldn’t give it an easy time.
Before either of those had a chance to run, Mike Skinner put in a very committed drive in his Toyota Tundra pick-up, sliding past the flint wall in an entirely unyielding manner. He set 50.44 seconds as a benchmark, which ultimately proved enough to secure third place.
Kenny Brack gave the P1 LM all he could to secure a time of 47.07. All he could do then was wait at the top of the hill to see what time Olly Clark would post. Crossing the line at a little over 140mph, he completed the run in 46.29 seconds and took first place for the second year running. Because of the conditions, that’s actuallyt slightly slower than last year’s time, but still a convincing victory on the day.
