Video: Lanzante’s road-going Porsche 935 debuts at the Festival of Speed

At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, Lanzante has revealed its own version of the 935 – and there’s one significant difference: it’s now road legal. It follows in the footsteps of similar conversions undertaken by Lanzante on otherwise track-only machines from McLaren and Pagani.

Mechanically, things remain the same for the road-going Lanzante-prepared car. That means you still have a 709PS (521kW) twin-turbo flat-six accompanied by a PDK gearbox. Alterations include discreet headlights and the addition of a handbrake, as well as purpose-made electronics. Arguably the most significant changes are to the suspension. It now has to deal with potholes, which was never in Porsche’s original remit.

Of the 77 935 owners, two have opted to take up the conversion. Both are finished in liveries that ape classic motorsport colour schemes. One is a modern re-interpretation of the Martini livery, the other, which has been in action on the Hills, is a striking red and white finish that’s immediately evocative of Marlboro.

In the competition environment of the Goodwood Hill, the Lanzante-prepared Porsche 935 looks perfectly at home. Just imagine what a startling sight it would be on the public road. The current 911 GT3 RS, with all its aero addenda, is difficult to upstage, but this five-year-old car is up to the job.
