Happy 70th, Ferrari: Celebrating the Scuderia with a stunning assemblage at FOS

Under the towering circle of the Bernie Ecclestone tribute Central Feature, many of the great and the good from 70 years of Ferrari – both cars and drivers – congregated to mark the occasion.  

Centre stage was Lord March and VIPs flanked by two cars spanning the decades: a 1947 125 S and a 2017 LaFerrari Aperta. They made the perfect bookends for a 70-year career that has set the pace for road and racing alike. 

Around the carriage drive were parked up an array of Ferrari superstar cars through the decades, a selection taken from the 70 that have descended on the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard this year in tribute to Maranello.

The LaFerrari has already made its mark in the record books. When the final and 500th edition of the 217mph, 950bhp hypercar sold at auction for US$7 million, it became the most valuable 21st-century car.  

The open Aperta version at the Festival of Speed in the Michelin Supercar Run for the first time is even rarer. Two hundred were made with an additional nine set aside for events during the marque’s 70^th anniversary year.
