Genesis’s third EV of 2022 unveiled at FOS

Genesis is working hard to do that, and so far in 2022 it has launched three electric cars. Battery-powered GV60 and GV80 models have already been added to the price list, and the third model made its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard today. The Duke of Richmond, together with Andrew Pilkington of Genesis, pulled the cover off the electrified GV70 earlier today. As well as the rest of the production range, it was joined on the stand by the X Speedium Coupe concept which was also making its European debut.

The rapid-fire introduction of electric models is the manifestation of Korean car-maker’s pledge to be all electric by 2025. Dominique Boesch, Managing Director for Genesis Motor Europe, commented: “We are delighted to unveil Electrified GV70 the very first time in Europe at the world-famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. As with our other SUV models, it retains exceptional versatility and usability, as well as unrivaled comfort and driving pleasure. As the third new electric car from Genesis to be launched in Europe in under a year, Electrified GV70 is further evidence of the brand’s bold ambitions for the region.”

A series of videos that coincide with the Electrified GV70’s launch demonstrate its vehicle-to-load feature, where the car’s batteries can be used to power other appliances. The videos show the GV70 helping out around the Goodwood estate, but it could as easily be used to power a lawn mower or camping equipment.

We’re going to have to be patient before we receive details of the Electrified GV70’s specification. No details have yet been released on power, range or pricing. Expect them to be revealed in the summer, ahead of the order books opening.
