Gallery: The best photos from Friday of Festival of Speed

The sunshine has prevailed and we’ve been spoiled with even more spectacular displays than yesterday.
The all-new Arena presented by Forza Horizon 4: LEGO Speed Champions opened its doors and in flooded drift cars, bikes and even the Kamaz Dakar truck, putting vehicles half its size to shame as it shifted around the course.
But, without a doubt, the headline of the day was Romain Dumas setting a new hillclimb record in the 671bhp Volkswagen ID. R. Dumas flew up the hill in just 41.18 seconds, smashing the previous two-decade-old record of 41.6 seconds, set by Nick Heidfeld in the McLaren MP4/13 in 1999.

Another electric challenger, the Extreme E made its debut on the hill, too. The off-roader aims to replicate rally racing in a series of only EVs. Esteban Ocon headed up the Hill in a Mercedes-Benz AMG W08 Hybrid Formula 1 car, pulling the obligatory donuts outside the Goodwood House, and he was joined by a lovely selection of other noisy, fast F1 cars, both past and present.

And finally, a number of classic and modern race bikes brought a two-wheeled twist to the predominately four-wheeled Festival.
