Gallery: The best images from Sunday of Festival of Speed

Thousands of spectators turned out to the final day of motoring’s largest garden party, packing the grandstands and flooding the paddocks, while manufacturer exhibits were heaving with interested individuals.

Wet conditions early in the day made the track treacherous, especially for many of the higher-powered racing machines. While those that had rain tyres to fit did so, the conditions unfortunately meant that some vehicles had to sit out this morning’s heats. Luckily, the track had all but dried by mid-afternoon and the high-speed hijinks resumed. 

One man that did make it to the Hill this morning was Goodwood Road & Racing’s very own James Charman, who joined Maria Costello in her sidecar unit.
Late in the morning, a very special Michael Schumacher celebration was held, with a collection of his significant cars parading up the Hill, from his very first race car, the 1988 Van Diemen-Ford RF88, to his first Formula 1 championship winner, the 1994 Benetton-Ford B194, and finally, his last championship winner, the 2004 Ferrari F2004.

The Aston Martin moment again took place under the manufacturer’s impressive Central Feature this afternoon, with a number of historic models gathering on the coach circle, before an impressive firework display lit up the grey sky.

And finally, in celebration of Jackie Stewart, the legend himself was joined by his two sons in driving three of his acclaimed cars on to the coach circle, where he was interviewed by Dario Franchitti.

As I write this, the Duke of Richmond presents the awards to the respective class winners on the lawn in front of his house in a ceremony which marks the end of the 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

With all of that in mind, here’s a collection of our favourite images from the final day of FOS. What a day it has been.
